The Art of Grandma Moses
Over thirty paintings on view including The Old Checkard House, 1853 (1944), Halloween (1956) and A Country Wedding (1951), and area landscapes Hoosick Hills (1956), and White Creek (1952). Also on view are her worktable, painting equipment and awards, and other Moses family memorabilia in the Grandma Moses Schoolhouse.
Bennington Pottery Gallery and Study Center Exhibition explores the history of the potteries operating in Bennington from 1785 until the early 20th century. Features masterpieces of ceramic production and illustrates the use of many different types of ceramics in the Victorian home. Study center presents a comprehensive display of all the forms, glazes and decorative treatments made in Bennington. Includes interactive activities for families.
Art of the Region
A new fine art exhibition featuring works that represent regional artists or national artists presenting Vermont themes. Highlights include Norman Rockwell, Frederick McMonnies, Lorenzo Hatch, Sister Mary Veronica, Simon Moselsio, Oliver Tarbell Eddy, and more.

Independence of Thought, Freedom of Speech Of all the freedoms granted by the United States Constitution, the freedom of expression is the most well known. Vermonters provided the first true test of this principle in the 1790s when Bennington resident and newspaperman Anthony Haswell went to jail rather than compromise his freedom of speech. Artifacts and documents from his trial and imprisonment will be on display. Featured will be the work of renowned photographer Kevin Bubriski with recent photographs of political expression in Bennington. In the Bennington Museum's Changing Exhibition Gallery.

A public meeting to discuss the future of museum and community collaboration. 4 to 6 p.m. in the Paul Paresky Museum Court.

Festival of Trees Holiday Brunch
Savory seasonal fare served in the festively appointed Museum Court. As the special opening event of the Festival of Trees, the brunch will be the first opportunity to preview and bid on the unique items in the "Ultimate Gift" silent auction. Seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30. Admission $18/adults, $7.50/children 12 and under. In the Bennington Museum's Paresky Court and Education Center.

Festival of Trees
Community celebration featuring more than 80 exquisite holiday trees, wreaths, and other seasonal decorations in a variety of creative styles on display throughout the museum. All are available at a silent auction that concludes at the Grand Finale Gala on December 9. Open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; regular museum admission charged.

The Bennington String Quartet
Program: Haydn's String Quartet op. 74, no. 2, Paysages for String Quartet by Ernst Bloch, and Alexander Glazunov's 5 Novelettes, op. 15. Admission: adult $10, senior/student $8, family $20; museum members receive a 10% discount. 2 p.m. in the Bennington Museum's Ada Paresky Education Center.

Champagne & Shopping Night
Enjoy champagne and sweets as you take advantage of your member's discount in the Museum Shop. Will Moses will be on hand to sign his books and prints. Surprise gift with every purchase of $50 or more. 5 to 8 p.m. in the Museum Shop.

Festival of Trees Sugar Plum Party
A delightful family event featuring a holiday maze, visit with Santa, storytellers, refreshments, and more. Admission $4/adult, $2/children (ages 2 to 12), under 2 free. 1 to 3 p.m. in the Bennington Museum's Paresky Court and Education Center.

Festival of Trees Grand Finale Gala
The exciting conclusion of the Festival featuring a silent auction of trees and wreaths, as well as the "Ultimate Gift " silent auction with gift packages you'd love to give or receive. Delicious hors d'oeuvres and libations in a holiday wonderland setting. Tickets $25/person. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. In the Bennington Museum's Paresky Court and Education Center. |
