Center accredited
BENNINGTON — The National Association for the Education of Young Children recently announced that Bennington College's Early Childhood Center accreditation remains valid until November 2007.
“Preschools are not required to seek this distinction, but we at the ECC believe it is in the best interests of our school as well as the best interest of our families for us to undergo NAEYC's exacting scrutiny in order to provide young children with the very best care and education during the formative years of their lives,” said Darlene Bombard, a teacher and co-director at the center, in a news release. “This prestigious recognition has been achieved by only seven percent of early childhood programs nationwide. We are proud to be a part of that group.”
The association commended the staff for positive interactions with the students and praised the program for providing a curriculum that encourages children to be actively involved in the learning process. The center was also praised for creating an environment that fosters growth and development and for meeting the recommendations for group size and ratios.
